The United States Mint is gearing up for its release of the 2024 Reverse Proof Morgan & Peace Silver Dollar Set on Thursday, November 21st. Only the second set of its kind, the Mint is following up last year’s extremely popular 2-coin set featuring two of the most beloved United States coins in history.
Available for $215.00, both the Morgan and Peace dollar will be struck at San Francisco in .999 fine silver with the Reverse Proof finish. Each coin bears the “S” mint mark on the reverse and is limited to 262,500 in both product and mintage. The household limit is initially set to five. The 2-coin set will arrive in a blue presentation box and be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
The Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar program was reintroduced in 2021 to mark the 100th anniversary of the transition between the Morgan and Peace dollar. The Mint released five different coins in the initial year celebrating each branch Mint that struck the coins, including Privy marked coins for Carson City, Denver, and New Orleans as they are no longer in existence. Although originally slated to return with 2022-dated coins, it is speculated that the silver demand worldwide halted the production of the coins. They returned in 2023 with not only Philadelphia minted coins, but also Proof coins from San Francisco and the first ever Reverse Proof Morgan and Peace dollar in the 2-coin set.
