230th Anniversary Flowing Hair Gold Coin Releasing Today From U.S. Mint

Following up the release of the 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair Silver Medal last month, the United States Mint is ready for the High Relief Gold Coin of the same name. Struck at West Point, the coin will be available for $3,640.00 beginning today at 12pm EST. The Flowing Hair gold coin will pay homage to the original 1794 Flowing Hair dollar coin which was considered the United States’ first dollar coin and was issued on October 15th over 230 years ago.

The obverse of the 1oz .9999 fine 24kt gold High Relief Proof coin will feature a rendition of the original design. The portrait of Lady Liberty facing right and surrounded by 15 stars will be depicted. The 15 stars represent the fifteen states that at the time had ratified the Constitution. LIBERTY and 2024 are inscribed. HUNDRED CENTS ONE DOLLAR OR UNIT is incused on the edge.

Also staying true to the original 1794 design is the reverse as it depicts a laurel wreath surrounding an eagle. The eagle has its wing spread in the center, which is an early rendition of the American heraldic eagle. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is also seen inscribed.

Mintage and product limits are set at 17,500 with an initial household limit of just one. It will come inside a clamshell box and classic black presentation case accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
