The obverse (heads side) design is based on legendary sculptor Adolph A. Weinman’s 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar, widely considered one of the most beautiful American coins ever minted. Updated in 2021, the obverse now offers a closer reflection of Weinman’s original vision on the obverse including the addition of his traditional artist’s mark. The redesigned reverse (tails side) features an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add to a nest.
