Indian Head Cent Good to Very Fine Condition
The obverse features Lady Liberty wearing a Native American headdress, inscribed with the word "LIBERTY." The date of issue is placed below the portrait. This design combines classical and Native American elements, reflecting the cultural diversity of the United States. The reverse depicts a wreath of oak leaves surrounding the denomination "ONE CENT." From 1860 onwards, a small shield was added at the top of the wreath, enhancing the intricate design of the coin.
Indian Head Cent G/VF
In Good condition, the coin exhibits significant wear. The details on Lady Liberty's headdress and face are heavily worn, with only the major outlines visible. The "LIBERTY" inscription may be faint or worn away completely. The date is readable, though it might be faint. On the reverse, the wreath and "ONE CENT" are visible but lack detail, and the shield is generally very worn. In Very Fine condition, the coin shows moderate wear but retains much more detail. The curls in Lady Liberty's hair and the feathers in the headdress are more distinct. The "LIBERTY" inscription is clearer and mostly readable. The date is sharp and easily legible. On the reverse, the oak wreath shows more intricate details, and the shield at the top is more pronounced. The overall design elements are much sharper compared to those in Good condition.
