Shawnda R., Enameler
Working here for a little over three years now, Shawnda is one half of the enameling team that paints ALL the silver bullion we sell out of the shop. From being involved in the design process, to mixing colors, and perfecting the final pieces, she has become an important part of what we do here at SilverTowne. Those collectors who prefer our enameled pieces know by now just how stunning those rounds and bars are, and the capacity to expand that collection grows stronger every day with help from dedicated painters like her.
Beginning/Current Job Title: “I started at the SilverTowne Mint at the end of 2020 working in enameling. I came over to the coin shop in August of 2021 and have been here ever since. Side note: I also worked as a live show operator back in 2014 for The Coin Vault.”
Favorite Part of Her Job: “My favorite part is bringing the pieces to life with some color. I loved being involved in the process of picking and mixing colors to match the vision they were originally designed with. It is also fun to be able to tell people I “color” for a living.”
Biggest Surprise Over the Years: “How big the hobby and business are. I did not grow up around anyone that collected coins or silver, so I had no idea that it was such a big business.”
Biggest Change Over the Years: “Even though I have not been here very long, I know that we now offer more enameled pieces than we did when I first started at the Mint.”
Advice For New Customers: “My advice would be to check out the special occasion and enameled pieces when it comes to gift giving. There are several options for just about any occasion you can think of.”
Fondest Memory/Memories: “I think just talking with co-workers and making friends here in general would be my fondest memories. Of course, the holiday carry ins and parties that we have as well.”
What She Looks Forward To: “I just really enjoy getting to paint new pieces and help bring them to life. I look forward to that happening all the time.”
Favorite Music: “I listen to all types of music. My playlist has just about every genre and band imaginable. It’s not uncommon to go from Tim McGraw to Kevin Gates.”
When Shawnda isn’t painting silver at the shop, she enjoys relaxing at home with her husband and dogs. She also likes to visit other family members and spend time with her granddaughter.
