Canadian Silver Maple Leafs have been produced since 1988, they are highly sought after Royal Canadian mint bullion investment grade coins. SMLs are produced annually with the current year date on the reverse and minted with one troy ounce (31.11 grams) of .9999 (99.99%) pure silver.  The 2024 date marks the first year with the effigy of King Charles III.

In recent years, the RCM has enhanced the security of their Silver Maples; these enhancements include radial lines in the background of the design, a micro-engraved maple leaf on the obverse of each coin and Bullion DNA anti-counterfeiting technology.

The Radial Lines are precisely machined to be specific on each die and create a light-diffracting patter that is specific to the coin. The micro-engraved maple leaf can be located on the obverse of the coin and for the 2024 year-date, the numeral "24" can be found under magnification in the center of the design. Lastly, the Bullion DNA is an industry first that features an anit-counterfeit security mark that is micro-engraved on each coin and registered with the Royal Canadian Mint and can be instantly authenticated with the proprietary Bullion DNA Reader and software (one of which SilverTowne has located in our showroom).

Silver Maples are Sovereign silver bullion coins backed by the Canadian Government with a face value of $5 (CAD). Multiples of 25 come in original mint tubes.
