1962 Proof Franklin Half Dollar

The Benjamin Franklin Half Dollar was designed by John R. Sinnock whose initials appear below the shoulder. The Liberty Bell is similar to that used by Sinnock on the 1926 Sesquicentennial of American Independence commemorative half dollar modeled from a sketch by John Frederick Lewis.

The obverse of the coin features a left-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, a founding father of the United States. He is depicted with intricate details, including his hair and features. The word "LIBERTY" is inscribed to the right of Franklin's portrait, and the date "1962" is at the bottom. The reverse of the coin displays the Liberty Bell, a famous symbol of American independence. Above the bell, the coin reads "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and below it, the denomination "HALF DOLLAR" is marked. The coin's proof finish gives it a mirror-like, polished appearance, making the design details stand out prominently.
